The 2016 Texas Truck Rodeo has a new home: the Longhorn River Ranch located in a picturesque Texas Hill Country setting west of Austin, near Dripping Springs. It features spectacular elevation changes and, with around 1,632 acres, is roughly 50% larger than our previous venue, giving us the option for more varied and challenging off-road courses than ever before. On-road drive routes follow the winding river roads along Onion Creek, and stints at highway speeds more closely represent drive cycles Texans experience everyday.
This pre-event reconnaissance trip, or "recce" as the World Rally Championship calls it, will give our Manufacturer and Associate Members and their respective support teams the opportunity to explore the new venue and help us make decisions on the off-road and on-road drive routes, including special stage obstacles, paddock and facilities placement and so forth.
Participants will travel from Texas Motor Speedway following the 2016 Texas Auto Roundup Awards Announcement to the Sonesta Hotel - Bee Cave, the 2016 Texas Truck Rodeo Official Hotel.
Those who register through TAWA's event registration will have a room reservation made in the registrant's name for the night of Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016.
Wednesday morning the group will meet for breakfast, then drive to the Longhorn River Ranch. Once at the Ranch, TAWA's Derek Price and Michael Marrs will lead a planning agenda.
When all's said and done, participants are encouraged to fly out of either AUS (41 miles) or SAT (52 miles) airports - no overnight stay required.
